Bacon and Ice Cream and Spoons.. OH MY!

So this is the first of the many blogs I will write about

BACON!

I love bacon and any food that uses bacon in a different way I'm all about trying. I'm still considering the making the Bacon Cheddar Cupcakes with Beer Cheese Cream Cheese Frosting.
Anyway, I found this recipe for Candied Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookies and I got this crazy idea about how good it would be to make a Chipwich with these cookies and some bacon ice cream.

Bacon in desserts is totally making a food revolution, with definite innovation from Kevin, one of the finalists on Top Chef Las Vegas.

In the finale Kevin prepared a Roasted Banana, Toasted Peanut with Chocolate Bacon Mousse & Bacon Brittle which the judges had mixed reviews on. I probably would've loved it. :)

Back to my Bacon Chipwich idea.. I wanted to see if there was any place in Maryland that made Bacon ice cream. Did I ever find the place! I am DYING to go to this place. The Ice Cream Store in Rehobeth Beach, Delaware looks like a place that I could probably sell my soul to! I love innovative food.. and not only does the Ice Cream Store have bacon ice cream, but they have other wild flavors such as Beer, Lucky Charms, Spinach and Sweet Corn! I'm also curious what Better then Sex tastes like!

This will be a guaranteed stop on my next trip to Ocean City! Although, I might have to get a scoop of everything!

Oreo Truffles

I decided I wanted to make a treat for Valentine's Day and I've been wanting to make these Oreo Truffles for a while now. They are so simple. Only three ingredients to make these awesome little cookies! My only problem was that I didn't have a food processor so I had to crush the cookies with a hammer!

Oreo Truffles

Makes about 36 truffles

1 package of Oreo cookies (I used the reduced fat)
1 8 oz. package of cream cheese
1 12 oz. bag of white chocolate chips

I put all but 8 Oreo cookies into a gallon size Ziplock bag and then used a hammer to crush the cookies into finely ground crumbs. If you have a food processor this step will be much easier!

Once the cookies are crumbled mix them well with the cream cheese.

Using your hands, roll cream cheese and cookie mixture into 1 inch balls. This part gets messy but it tastes amazing! Place all of your formed truffles onto a cookie sheet and place in the fridge for about 10 minutes to harden slightly. This will make dipping them in the melted chocolate easier.

While the truffles are cooling in the fridge, melt your package of white chocolate chips in a dish by heating for about 3 minutes at 50% power. Stirring every 30 seconds. You want to chocolate to be thin enough to easily coat the Oreo dough.

Using a spoon place one truffle at a time into the melted white chocolate until it is well coated then place onto a cookie sheet coated in wax paper.

After they are all coated put them back into the fridge until the chocolate hardens which only takes a few minutes.. then enjoy!

♥Valentine's Day♥

I can't believe it's already Valentine's Day! I feel like New Years was just the other day! I think because of this blizzard all the days just seem to blend into each other. I feel like I'm on another planet coming from sunny Florida to Alaska. Oh wait, I moved back to Maryland.

Whether or not you have a Valentine this year, I love any excuse to celebrate with unnecessary chocolate and self indulgence :).

Some girls might want roses... but heres a fun flower fake... a bouquet of thongs!

I'm dying to make these: cream cheese stuffed chocolate covered strawberries! I've made chocolate covered strawberries as gifts in the past but these look phenomenal!

Walk of Shame... Walk of Glory

So I found this Walk of Shame Kit online at Outblush a shopping blog that I love. This is fantastic. My favorite part is the real walk of shame stories that they have posted. Personally I think that sometimes the Walk of Shame should really be called the Walk of Glory. On Halloween of 2008 my roommate and partner in crime, Lauren, and I decided to dress up as the Walk of Glory as our Halloween costumes. We wore oversized men's button down shirts and made our hair all crazy. We had a friend write call me in marker with a random number on our arms too! I was damn proud to go out in that costume! Haha!

I love Halloween :)

Pinot Grigio (and Sarah and Diane) inspire me

I've been considering the idea of creating a blog for a while now. I use my Facebook account to post all sorts of links and photos and pretty much use it for things I would have loved to "blog" about. Anyone that really looks at my Facebook on a regular basis also knows my love of anything food related. I spend hours feeding my addiction to food blogging and am so inspired by the countless food blogs that I have been bookmarking recipes from.

I got to spend all day with two of my best friends, Diane and Sarah. After we made an awesome dinner tonight, the three of us sat around drinking wine and talking. Somehow we began talking about blogs. I know we are nerdy :) Anyhow I finally decided it was my time to start a blog of my own. The idea of the name is all Diane's idea, although her first suggestion was something along the lines of Kimbo Slice Fo' Sho'. I think A Slice Of Kim Pie suits me much better.. don't you think?

So here it is... the first of many posts to come.

Enjoy!
